Alice in Wonderland Art Challenge

Well finally I am a bit ahead of the game and got my Alice challenge done for Lydia's Reveal Art Challenge Blog!!! Whooo Hooo!!

Created on an 8 x 10 artist canvas, I painted it coral. Then using a variety of design papers, a reproduction image of Alice that I digitally colored. some funky paisleys for embellishment and it was just too cool that I had this teacup magnet (Avon) to add a little bit of dimension to this piece. The finally was the trim around the outside edges.

Titled: Just say "NO" to tea parties, I kind of took the approach for Alice based on the song by Jefferson Airplane called "Go Ask Alice" (one pill makes you larger and one pill makes you small)

My apologies on the "not so great" picture.

Thanks for looking

My Studio what a mess!!!

Okay here it is but I am warning you now, this could be harmful to your eyes.
My studio is a huge mess because I really haven't been working in it except to throw something together or dump things into it. I am really hoping to get it back in shape over the next few weeks.

To me it looks a little bit like John and Kays but add a touch of tornado/hurricane and a sprinkle of always in a hurry and maybe a flock of about 50 fluttering Cathy birds and you may come close to understanding what a mess.

I would also like to add that this is absolutely NOT a reflection of my everyday housekeeping skills, in fact I have been told many times that this side of me is the evil inner child to the always extremely Anal Kim when it comes to housekeeping. LOL

View at your own risk
This is the long view 25 x 8 feet

This is sort of my art shrine that includes some of my collection from other artists, but it has become a dumping ground.

My table top, it's actually pretty clean right now LOL 4 x 6 feet

Rubber stamping, painting, staining, hot gluing, rivets, grommets, eyelets hole punching

embellishments, dimensional parts and weird other bits and pieces, you can see I am a little behind in putting stuff away.

Boxes above contain lace, buttons, specialty papers etc. I will take better pics when I get this cleaned up.

Beads Jewelry findings wires and more junk (okay I think I am getting really embarrassed now)

This is the far end of the studio where I do major cutting. You can see my chop cutter and sizzix machine (gosh I love that tool)

I try to keep ahead with cutting and die cutting for my kits, hence those little baggies of precuts on the wall.

Vintage books and more paper

Fibres and trim, and I still never have the right colors for a project.

Card stock and chip board, hmmm looks a little bit bare I think I have to stock up again

I really haven't shown you but half of it all but again I am embarrassed by how messy everything is so I will give you better pics next time.

Cathy, this is such a great and fun topic, I think I will move it to a permanent spot under Link Loo Loos very soon. This way we can all do updates and watch this grow. LOL

In final note, I hope this doesn't change your view of me too much LOL remember I did warn you....

Mini Paper Packets available on Etsy

Mini Paper Packets

This is a fun collection of paper ephemera.

You will find an assortment of vintage image reproductions, ephemera bits, background pieces tickets tags etc.

50 piece assortment for only $3.00

Plus as a bonus, I will include some vintage book pages 6-8 and a few other goodies for a surprise.

At this price, it is a fun way to have variety packets for a collage art day with the gal pals, or pick up a few for gifty envelopes for friends. Send one to a secret sister, a craft buddy or stash them for your own projects. I will drop ship for you with a gift card if you like!

For each one you purchase I will add the book pages and other goodies for each one.

You can purchase these in my Etsy shop called PDAimagesbykim

Kim and Lydia went Garage Sale'n

Yes it was our second weekend in a row going to garage sales.
Lydia has posted pictures of her loot on PDA so I figured I would post the images of my loot here and just link from PDA

A huge collection of doilies. I often add these into my large ephemera kits, it is always so pretty to work with real crochet doilies.

For those of you that are familiar with Pocket Packet Fridays, you know that this is hard to pass up. And that just makes more opportunity to win a pocket packet! This package had around 50 pockets, for $2.00 wow thats alot of cheeks!

Lace trim and more doilies

Two very lovely vintage books, with many antiquarian book art pages. These will be scanned and uploaded to the free images on PDA

Fun colored dominoes, these are going in my personal stash but I think I will add a few to the tin box going to the winner of the Alice in Wonderland art Challenge on Lydia's Reveal Blog.
Deadline to post your entry is June 30th so you still have lots of time.

I couldnt resist this wonderful find. Anyone up for a game of old maid, barrel of Monkeys, bowling or playing store? A great find of faux coins and wooden numbered blocks.

Another steal at $1.00 for this wooden shelf. It stands about 18 inches high. I am going to use it for some very large rubber stamps I have so they are decoratively displayed in my studio.

My prize of the day! I guess I had been deprived in my hippy girl days cuz I didnt have a lava lamp back then.

I was excited to find this because it will match nicely in my livingroom when we are finished renovations and painting. My livingroom is going to be in very bright shades of green with a little bit of burnt sienna and white trim.

I know, I know it sounds super duper ugly but it really looks sharp on the swatches we created.

For a second my hubby did think I finally lost it in my garage sale treasures with this lava lamp but he just raised his eyebrows, shrugged his shoulders and smiled. I think he thought it was pretty cool too. and I dont think he had a Lava lamp either when he was a hippy. LOL

So there you have it, aside from that I found a huge ugly black plastic CD rack for all of my computer cds. Yeah it's kind of ugly but it outta hold everything now and it wont look so bad once it is full. Sorry no pic of that one cuz I forgot.

kim

What an embarrassment

Hi Everyone,

It has been a ong time since I posted to this blog. But I have been busy with college courses, and creating the Paper Digital Art network that I kinda went on Hiatus with this blog.

But on PDA we have links to members blogs and I used mine as an example so I thought it best to revive this blog and try to keep it up to date again.

So there will be several posts today and hopefully many more to follow.

Hugs to all of you out there!

Lydia's Reveal Art Challenge Blog

If you have not stopped by this art challenge blog you are missing out on a fun challenge site. Lydia's Reveal will challenge your creative muse.
Lydia sets the stage, she feeds your mind with the theme, and then your own thoughts and creativeness take over or perhaps these thoughts are really hers.........

Her challenges are bi-monthly, in any medium, size and artistic expression. You are welcome to participate whether you are a potter, a jeweler, a card maker.

Then, there is a voting for the best artist of the theme and a winner is chosen. The winner receives an award and free advertising for 2 weeks.

This first Challenge ends tomorrow night and the voting will begin on Wednesday.
Please stop in to view and cast your vote for the best piece. Also be sure to check out the next theme challenge due for the end of the month.

As usual, I am so very far behind on everything.

I created this digitally collage enhanced photo for Lydia's first Challenge Theme: Reveal

It is titled: She revealed her wings
She longs to have real butterfly wings and has settled for her tattooed wings instead. Everything in blue on the photo was added digitally including figuring the perspective of the tattoo on her back.
The photo is now printed to be completed into a dimensional collage art piece. When it is finished I will post a revised photo.

Although I may from time to time participate in Lydia's challenges for fun, I do not participate in the voting, because I am both affiliated with the site and Lydia's friend.

I have made some extra print copies and will finish 2 derivative versions, and one will be awarded to Lydia's challenge winner as an extra gift for participating in the challenge.

Now to let you know what else is going on in my real world......

Canning and preserving season is upon us and I must tend to my mountain of tomatoes for salsa, stew etc. Beets are done, hot pickled peppers are done, but I see many more days ahead of slaving over a hot stove. Every year I make a huge collection of canned goods only to have empty jars again in the new season. Where does it go? Who eats it all? I don't know but I keep making more.

If that isn't enough, my hubby is on holidays right now and we are renovating our bedroom and a spare bedroom with new paint colours, and new laminate flooring in the bedroom and main hallway. Right now my bed/sleeping quarters is in the living room and actually looks quite cozy. The rest of the rooms are in total turmoil. It's not easy to find the underwear and socks, we have taken to checking the clean laundry basket for what ever we want to wear. I am starting to see a pattern in our clothes choices.

And still more, I have company coming for dinner on Wednesday night. They are okay with the bed in the living room, LOL they are just coming for dinner. But I have a big meal to plan.

Can-eh? Can-Artistry is another venture for me and though I haven't been active on the boards for the last 2 weeks, I have been working behind the scenes in preparation of new phases to come. If you are a Canadian Artist, please join us on Can-eh? it's free and a great way to promote yourself and art.

This is all you get for tonight, please do stop in to visit Lydia's reveal and we would love to have you join in on the next challenge!

I'll be back soon!

((((hugs))))

The Never Ending Project Box

Hi Everyone in blogland,

I am still working on the items in my project box from many many weeks ago (actually I think maybe months ago)

Here are some of the photo slide mounts that I have recycled into miniature art. Some of these are available for purchase on Ebay tonight, with more to be listed somewhere soon. I have finished 12 in total but I think I have about 40 half baked so they should be done soon.

That leaves the 2 childrens board books and they are already basically covered so maybe they will get completed in the near future too!

As I am saying this I realize I have many more project boxes waiting for me to work on.
This time I am going to peek inside before I actually commit to the one I pick. LOL

That's all for me tonight, many things on the go in the real world.....see you soon!

Have a very creative week!

Steampunk.... the new buzz in Art

Steampunk, is it new?

Well no not really it's been around a few times in my own life time, but it is back and popular again.

If you are not really sure what steampunk is or what it is all about, then you really must go and read all about it on Kat aka AlteredKat's new squidoo lense called: Steampunk Art
I was so inspired and rejuvenated after reading her lense that I had to go and make a piece of Steampunk art.

Now a few years back we made art like this and called it trash art. Using a variety of found objects and mechanical parts, bits and pieces to create jewelery. It was easy going through my stash to find items to work with. LOL by now, you must think I am a weird collector of stuff? LOL

Do you remember that Altoid Tin that was in my project box a few weeks back? Well it became the perfect item for creating my new Steampunk art tin.

Decorated with a wire hanger to hang or drape, completely finished inside and out including the back and a wired found object for a dangle.
You can see more pics on ebay where I have this item listed.

Now, do you remember this old Cigar Box from my project box a few weeks back too? Also listed on ebay.

I am finally getting these items done tho it has taken a long time. Still a few items from that box left to do but should not be too much longer.

Here are more items I listed on eBay yesterday for my art listings for the week.

Paper roses ATC ACEO

Pretty birds 4 x 6 art card

Chained heart 5 x 7 art card

A wonderful artist I found on the net

If you have some time to spend browsing on the net, you really must stop and see this artist:
Pat Winter aka Gatherings 100

I first met her on Gail's new blog Mind Wide Open and her art was displayed for an art challenge. I fell in love with her vintage style and I have been drooling over the piece she entered for the challenge.

The Remembrance Box:

Be sure to stop by her blog to read more about it and see many wonderful art pieces she has created. She has links to some fun places.

And my blog just wouldn't be my blog if I can't share with you art that I now have in my own collection.

My personal collection of art from other artists is huge and yet I will always have room for more art from Lydia aka Kenningstone

My new art pieces from her include:

Pink House:

and Anuata Art Doll:

I have yet to see an art piece from Lydia that I do not love.

Go have a read and view on her blog for her latest art pieces before I start looking to purchase those new Roba Cards

Lydia,

Thank-you for sharing your wonderful talent, I want more please, .....I love it all!

And if you, my favorite blog readers still want more........

Stop by the Free Image of the Day Blog

and the Can-eh Featured Canadian Artist Blog Roll

for more more more!!!

That's it that's all for today,

Have a very creative week!

POST 100 Yay!!!

I want to show you 2 more row houses I received. I saved these for the end because they are more special to me.

They are from my friends Gerdie Fisher and Lydia Hildebrandt aka Kenningstone. Both gal pals are local, living very close by and we occasionally work together. We had so much fun sharing ideas, we had a "Gala Evening with wine and cheese to debut our finished houses before we packed them up and sent them off to Jeri aka An Artful Gathering
then we waited very patiently.........( yeah sure I checked the mail box every day after reading about the first person that received theirs back) .......for our houses to return. We had a blast looking at each others houses, we even have plans to make more.

This is Lydia's row house, the detail is incredible, the windows are actually transparent and if there is a light behind, it looks like the home fires are burning. The door is a wooden door from a found object Lydia found on one of her walks.. Her embellishments are all hand made. The texture and staining are incredible.

This house is from Gerdie. It's a quilted outhouse, you may want to only peek with one eye open cuz the outhouse is occupied!

She had made an outhouse for the swap someone else got it, as well as some beautiful quilted houes both designs gave me a pouty face because I would have loved to have either style of hers. I guess I must have talked about it and begged enough that she made me the quilted out house.
The quilting is actual stitching that she pre-punched through the matte board and then hand quilted. Right now you are already thinking wow, and if you look closely you will see all the thread stitches you might even say double wow.

peeksie on the inside.......ooops where's the Sears catalogue?

Thank-you Lydia and Gerdie, this was so much fun , I can't wait to work on a new project with both of you again.

So there you have it, this is my 100th post. Although it's probably more like 200 when you read the really winded ones.

Here is the list of entries I have so far, I will still accept entries til midnight okay til morning.
Then I will post the winning entry.

Jen 1
Denise 1
Mercedes 2
Kat 5
Sarah 11
Lydia 6
Kathy 1
Teresa 2
Connie 1
Gina 1
Donna 1

Lisa 3
Shari aka creative chatter 4
Sheri aka Esprit*d'Art 1
Mosiac 1
Rosie 1
Arlee 1

The list can change with any comments I receive yet today.

Before I pack the box, I will be sure to take pictures of everything in it but it will not get posted until the winner notifies me that she/he has received the package. (so far I can say she but that could change).

Upon receipt I ask that the winner leave a post on their blog if possible linking back to my blog. If you don't have a blog, that's okay at least you can come back here and post your comments on what you received.

Thank-you so very much for all of your wonderful comments. I am more excited to know that people do actually read my blog.

Have a wonderful evening, Good Luck and see you tomorrow

Art and Imagesbykim Free image of the day!

Make sure you book mark the site page, cuz the url is very long.

Art and Imagesbykim Free image of the day!

Happy Creating with these images!

And yes......this is post number 99, one more to go and it is going to be tommorrow for sure!!!!
This dragged on much longer than I ever wanted so I have a few little things to do in the afternoon and I will post number 100 by early evening.

Ground Control To Kim, Earth calling Kim.......
Whewww!!!! Finally after several light years traveling around the many galaxies and the entire universe I am back on earth and posting on my blog.

It is amazing what you can get done in a Nano second in another universe and pathetic that it took me so long to get back here to my blog.

And if I actually think you believe any of this, then I am still somewhere in LALA land.....it's a very pretty place....ohhh so pretty.....

Well now that I am back, it is time to give you post# 98, only 2 more to go til my big draw and I tell ya....this box has more goodies then before. Keep your comments coming, remeber each one counts as another entry in the draw!

While I was off the internet, I managed to create some Art Card Kits and Book Art Kits.
These are currently listed on ebay and at a mere 7.99. You can read the descriptions and see all of the different colors on ebay. These kits have all the supplies to either make a pile of art cards in different sizes or a 12 sided art book.
Kits include papers, vintage book pages, recycled slide mounts, beads, buttons, fibres, ribbons and 2 sheets full of laser printed images all color coordinated to the rest of the kit, and more!

Most of the kits have over 100 elements. That's a lot of collaging!

Coral and Mint

Blue Teal

Pink Green Yellow

Burgundy Green

I' ve added one of these kits into my surprise goodie box for the draw, so hopefully someone will have some creative fun!

In my last post I mentioned I was going to a Scrappers convention. It was a ton of fun, tho I didn't get all of my projects completed, they have been started, just need the final touches on most.
At the scrap convention, I can't believe how much food they serve through out the day. I felt I was at a never ending buffet convention not a scrap convention. No sooner did one meal end, another one started. I don't think I could continue past the 2 days I was there, unless they started adding a workout session twice daily. But then again, great food, creating art, mixing with new found girlfriends and no work or housework?
Okay sign me up for the full time version!

My collage art was much better received this time around, I had far more interest and I felt not so weird. Maybe we will be able to have an altered art group soon. I had some interest from others so see what happens.

I also met a great gal named Linda Vich. She is a digital scrap designer and she has a website called Dreamscrapper. She designs digital kits, that you can download to your computer to create and print scrapbooks. The idea is similar to downloading and printing collage sheets but her's are the whole kit and caboodle.

I had a quick visit to her website and it kind of reminded me of going to an ice cream parlor with the scoops and many huge pails of ice cream.
The flavors are absolutely incredible, and the colors are gorgeous, in my mind, they even smell good too! I would be one of those people that holds up the whole line up cuz I can't decide which scoop I want! I bet you can't either, it's kind of a gotta have at least "two scoops" kit store!
Don't worry, of course they are all calorie free!!!! Do check it out!

I did manage to finish a few recycled CD's. Here are some samples below, I will be working on finishing the rest of the items later this week so hopefully I can show you more by the weekend sometime. One CD is sold, and the rest are listed on Etsy, I've already added one to my draw box too! But that one is just for the winner! :)

All the cds have hangers and danglers, you can see the full size images on Etsy. I've used a ton of those wonderful filigree embellishments from Kat, I hope she has lots because they are so much fun to work with!

Dragon Queen (SOLD)

Sunday Best

Lady in Red

Crimson Kiss

Amber Renaissance

Another thing I want to mention, is I had a comment/question from Shari of Creative Chatter asking if I ever visit/comment on other blogs (do check out her moo art too!).

Yes, I do visit blogs, some almost on a daily basis and others are weekly or biweekly but when ever I do get to your blog I tend to sit and read until I am caught up. I have approximately 90 blogs that I read. I don't always leave a comment because sometimes I just go for the read or I am not necessarily on my own computer and logged in plus with around 90 blogs, it gets a little much.

I also don't expect reciprocal comments on my blog either. A link or two would be nice.......
It just so happens that I am offering this draw so it is totally up to you if you want to be entered in the draw and the more you comment, the more entries you have.

But I have sometime this week so I will stop in to each of your blogs and leave you a comment.
So do make sure the coffee or tea is on, and you have some new art creations on the virtual walls for me to look at. Oh and a virtual cupcake would be nice.....calorie free of course...... :)

That's it that's all for today!
Remember, 2 more posts but don't ask me how many more sleeps, I may be off on another trip to LALA land or else visiting blogs for a couple of day.......

((((hugs))))

The Project Box

Here it is, a cigar box filled with stuff......

Here is what is in the box, what a lot of junk eh?
I'll give you a closer look

There are 17 useless old CD's, you know the ones that come in the mail, and a few that are corrupted and a couple with scratches.

There is an old Kitchen Cupboard Handle

2 used Children Board Books

20 Disgarded Slides

An Empty Altoid Tin and 3 sealers from canning jars

Sorry no partridge in a pear tree, maybe it's in the next box....

These are my projects for the weekend.

I started making project boxes in an effort to clear away the piles of stuff from my work area that I was going to try someday.

I have about 30 boxes filled with weird stuff, recyclables, unfinished projects and doo dads.
I made a shelf in my studio that I piled these boxes on so that it looks neat and keeps everything tucked away.

The object of the project box is to choose a box and deal with it until it is done. I must deal with everything in the box including the box unless I can refill the box to clear off my table.

So this will be my first box to work with.

How convenient is it that I am going to a Scrappers Croppers Convention for a couple of days this weekend eh? 12 hours a day of creating!

So unlike the scrappers who take their lovely albums and beautiful children, pets, and holiday pictures, I am bringing this Project Box.

So do you think I am going to get a few raised eyebrows?

At the last convention I went to, I actually had women walking away from me backwards like I was evil or something. LOL

Anyway, I will post some new pics on Sunday or Monday to show you what I did with these items.

Don't forget to leave me a comment to be entered into my big draw box
This is Post # 97 only 3 more til I make my draw.

I am not going to revise the entry list this time, because I only had 2 more comments 1 from Donna and the other from
Kat (who is leading with entries)

Have a Very Creative Weekend Everyone!

((((hugs))))

Kim

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

Here I am at Post # 96 and it only took me a week.

Well a lot has happened in this past week.

We had a wedding of which I was one of the photographers. I haven't sorted my pictures yet and I need to ask permission from the B&G if I can post their pic on my blog, but I will if they so let me.

I redid and reposted another tutorial lense on my Squidoo site and it is called Fabric Boxes
It was posted somewhere else before so you may have seen it but now it is a little more organized and easy to print out if you are one that likes the printed copy. So if you haven't seen it, haven't tried it, or forgot about it, do check it out when you have a chance. Also if you look along the left side of my blog, I have started adding pics with links that take you directly to my tutorials. This list is going to get longer and longer as I get a little more organized.

Another thing I did this week, is I started listing art items on a new site called Artbyus
They are actually not a "new" site, just new to me.
Here is my gallery page I listed some of my embellished keys so far.

And so cool of Artbyus, that they supply these great wigits for showing your listings: It's a little bit big for my blog but at least you can see some of the items.

Speaking of embellished keys, I have also listed 3 of them on ebay

So the next thing on my list is the fact that I have been "tagged" by Kat, as she says, she claims rights to Post # 96
I am supposed to tell you 6 weird or unimportant facts or stories or something about me that I haven't told you already.

Then I am supposed to tag a bunch of other bloggers so that they do the same.

Soooooooo........are you shakin in yur boots yet???
Thinking........is she gonna add my name to that list dagnabbit????

Notta!!!!!

Okay Kat, for you I will do this list one more time and it is some new facts, but I am not passing/tagging this on and I am not going to do another one........ ever!!!!

So here goes:
I needed a little bit of help so I started by reading what Kat posted on her's for some ideas

1. I was too old to have a poster of M.J. on my walls but I did have a poster of Donny Osmond when I was 11 and I did write a very long fan letter to him once. I got a letter back and was so disappointed when I realized he didn't really write it, because he didn't even answer one of my questions and it was so generic, even I knew it. It broke my heart and I totally quit being in love with him.

2. My nickname at school was burger or hamburger because of my last name Newberg. It was annoying for many years but now when I think of the kids that used to call me that, it makes me smile and remember some fun times.

3. I played the violin growing up. Back then I remember I could play a fabulous rendition of Turkey in the Straw, The Minuet by Strauss and O Canada (The original version)
Hey Kat, wanna start a girl band?

4. For many years I had a collection of Cat ornaments. It started with a small typesetter box I found and I added a couple of miniature cat ornaments on it. That was it ....the collection was born. Soon I was getting gifts of cat ornaments for every occassion, sad part is none of them ever fit on that shelf. So then I had a cat table, but they got bigger and I was putting them on the floor and on other shelves that I had to buy. Then I need a big case and then I started to pack them in boxes for when I moved to a bigger house. It didn't stop there, I had cat pot holders, and mugs, (many mugs) and tea pots and a clock and cat pillows, and fluffy cats, ceramic, glass, brass, even bone and candles and keychains and earrings and broaches and slippers and pj's and whaaaaa it was way outta hand!!!!!! There were many other types of cats, I just can't think right now.
So finally I said no more and had a big garage sale and sold off most of them. I still have the ones that fit in that typesetter box and I will eventually get rid of all of those too and no one is ever allowed to buy me anything with a cat on it.
Did I mention I also collect real live ones?
I have 3 (used to be 4) and that is the limit. But at least they wont get sold at a garage sale, but I have threatened to ship a few in the mail.
Oh yeah, I guess there is one other Kat in my collection and that one is a "keeper", but I sure hope they broke the mold on that ornament cuz I only want one of those no clones please LOL

5. My parents never owned a car or any other mode of transportation other than the bikes.
I only got my drivers license when I started dating my hubby, I think I was 22? Then my hubby gave me his Blue Chevy Nova when he bought a new vehicle. It was my first car and I loved it until it started having serious electrical problems. One night very late in the evening, on a wild and crazy hot summer Friday or Saturday we were coming home from somewhere on the other side of the city.
I was driving my Nova and Tom was behind me in his car. Every time I made a left turn, the car horn would honk in continuous short honks like I was pressing on the horn trying to get someone's attention.
Honk honk honk...honk honk honk it was a little embarrassing to say the least and I was a young cutie in those days so every drunk and car full of men all ages would honk back at me. I had a couple of cars following me for a bit. needless to say I must have made about 100 left turns on my way home. I was so crushed and I could have probably had a few new boyfriends no problem. Luckily Tom was there to witness the whole thing. He disconnected the horn the next day.

6. I think I am the only one that wrote this stuff. I spent a good hour reading through the blogs of all of Kat's taggee's only to find that so far I am the only one that wrote. I did read some great blogs including Rachel and Kerry's and I love their dog Blue. So I guess the point is that I will usually participate in the adventures of Kat, even though she often sends me on some wild goose chases looking at websites, or unusual ebay listings or weird bloggers and for some reason I always go and check them out. On the other hand I guess I do the same to her. Yesterday we came back to an old joke we have had for a bit about left brain and right brain. it's obvious we still share the brain thingy.

Okay Kat, that's it I am done done done!!!

Last of all I have updated my draw entries for my 100th post coming soon, if you haven't been here before just go back a few posts and you will figure out what I am talking about and don't forget to leave a comment in order to be entered into the draw.

I made a purchase from her Etsy Store the other day and this was how it came wrapped.

Then in side it was wrapped in this beautiful tissue with a lovely
bookmark little gifty. Ohhh what could it be?

It was, of course her gorgeous Black Knight Castle

Too Bad So Sad for you, cuz I bought it!
I waited and gave all of you a chance but as the saying goes:
snooze and you lose
and I wasn't going to wait any longer.

She just listed a new one on eBay called Gwenivier's Castle.

It's listed at a ridiculous low opening price and it ends tomorrow so go and check it out before you lose out again.

I promise you will be absolutely thrilled
if you become the owner of one of her castles.

Oh and don't wait forever!

Floor washing, Blog and Blue Day

I usually wash my floor on Friday, but one thing led to another and here it is Saturday. It was one of those major days when every nook and cranny gets done. Luckily I did it the right way.....I washed myself right into the carpeted side of the house.

Now I am forced to wait for the floor to dry.
Ohhh well, ;) I guess I can either have a nap.....or blog, and since I am not really tired, here I am! :0

Today is also Blue Day!
Lydia and I are getting together for a workshop this evening
to play with art in shades of blue.
It all started when we both purchased a roll of organza wired ribbon in a teal blue. Then we didn't stop....we found papers, beads, and more beads and then more paper All to go with our new chosen ribbon.

The photo I took is of the initial pile of items that I have to work with. Lydia's pile is probably different than mine with exception to the beads and of course the ribbon.
We bought these items about 2 weeks ago and since then I have added a pile of items to work with including some wonderful vintage images.

The initial shades of blue started out in the teals but I have added more items in some true blue shades, and even a bit of mint greens.
I will post images tomorrow to show you what I did with my stash.

Row House Swap is done and shipped!!!

These houses have been sent to Jeri of Artful Gathering and she will send back a set from 11 other artists. Ohh can I say excited just a little bit? This was a very fun project.

Below are the 11 houses I sent to Jeri and 2 others I traded locally with Gerdie and Lydia aka
Kenningstone. They too did this swap. When we were finished, we had a private Wine and cheese gala to show our houses before we mailed them. It was a fun evening. (any excuse to drink wine eh? LOL)

These houses look great free standing on my wire display stands (okay it's a shameless plug) but they really do look great! LOL I plan to display my swap houses using my stands

My theme for the houses was...."house" so I tried to work with the word in my theme

The House that Jack Built

If you live in a glass house, wear a House coat

This Ole House

The White House

House of Love

House of Mirrors

A House is not a home without a cat or 2

The Fun House

Home Comfort

The House that Jack Built

House of Mirrors

The Love Shack

House of the Rising Sun

I have made additional houses that I will be listing in the next couple of days so do stay tuned! Thanks for looking,

Back by Popular Demand!!!!!

Wire Display Stands for art cards, ACEO's ATC's and more!!!

After taking a little break, I have decide to start making my wire stands again. Truth is, I have a few customers who have waited so very patiently for me to get my rear in gear and make more of these stands.

They are sold in a pack of 10, suitable for holding your art cards for display or photographing.

They are wonderful for many different art card sizes, business cards, display cards and those cute little school pictures.

Only available on my website for a mere $4.99 for a 10 pack.

A customer once told me that she hoped I make a million $ selling these little stands.
But deep down I really hope not......
Here's the math trivia for you, 1 million dollars = 2,000000 wire stands that I would have to produce. (That isn't even including the cost of my supplies)

Now on a good day with great momentum, I can produce 40 stands per hour. However that only lasts one hour.

Then my attention sways to maybe doing a load of laundry, watching golf on TV or exercising. So you can see how much I would love making these stands past the first hour.

If I was able to keep up the momentum for 6 hours a day, it would take me 8333.3 days to complete the 2,000000. Based on working 5 days a week, that would be 32 years.....
ummm.....I am 48 years old now, that would make me 80 years old when I finished making my wire stands. Then, I still gotta hope I sold em all so I can retire with that million dollars!

It's just not gonna happen.
Unfortunately, these wire stands are limited to my attention span, and can be extremely limited. My suggestion is: if you like these, get them while I am on a roll!

Otherwise you are (plain) outta luck ;)

Finally!!!!

After falling off the internet for a couple of weeks, I am back.
But only briefly because I have to work again on Monday and Tuesday.

But then, it looks like I should have some time again.
Please keep your fingers crossed for me.
As much as I love all of my outside work/jobs, I still love and miss creating my art, internet selling and fellow bloggers/artists.

These are a few items I created a couple of weeks back and I have just listed everything on Etsy tonight.

Thanks for looking! See ya soon!!

Morning all!

Yesterday I didn't have time to finish writing all the posts I wanted because it ended up being late and I was getting cross-eyed.

I wanted to mention that I had 2 Easter Bunnies this week. The other one takes on the form of a Kat, no that's not a spelling error, it is Kat aka alteredkat. She too is an Easter Bunny.

She sent me this delicious package in the mail from the Hershey Chocolate Factory in her area.

It arrived sometime last week, I only picked it up on Saturday at the Post Office, and again I struggled to get that camera in time to take pictures.

Thank-you Kat, what a wonderful surprise!!!

Happy Easter Everyone!

Hope you had a fun time hunting for those chocolate goodies, and spending time with your families.

Our Easter was very quiet this year. Tom my wonderful hubby was working all day yesterday til very late and today he was gone since very early this morning.

During the past week both of us have been home with horrible colds and pretty much flat out all week.

So when he left for work this morning, I didn't really expect to find any kind of treats, I sniffed momentarily but shook my head and said silly girl, when would he have had time?

But he never forgets I told myself, and then I reminded myself that he wouldn't have had a chance.

So I pretty much left it at that and accepted the fact the my Easter Honey Bunny would probably make it up to me with a couple of candy bars early this week when the stores would be open...well at least the gas station.

Later in the morning, I quickly ran down stairs to my workshop to put something away because i was leaving shortly, and......low and behold!!!! There it was....a magic trail of little cadbury foil eggs that winded through my work shop up and down and around. They led to my table top where there was a canister upside down and I just knew there was the sweetest surprise of all!!!
My Lindt bunny, wrapped in pretty gold foil.

Aaaawwww he did have time, aaaawww he did remember, he always remembers, I knew that I really knew that.......he really truly is my Easter Honey Bunny.

Here is a picture of my Easter Loot, I would have taken pics of the whole trail but I was so excited when I was gathering them that I forgot to get the camera.

Thank-you Honey Bunny!!!

Kenning Stone

A brand new artist on Etsy called Kenning Stone

actually I know her as Lydia Hildebrandt and she comes from where I live in Vita Manitoba Canada.
Although she is new to Etsy and new to selling on the internet, she has been an artisan crafter and inspiration to many in her own community and family since forever.

Lydia doesn't have a blog yet, but I am working her up to it (maybe by next weekend right Lydia?)
and I will gladly accept any comments here on her behalf and forward them to her blog when she is ready for them.

Please stop by her new shop and drool on some of her gorgeous new art so she feels right at home with the rest of us. If you are inspired to purchase a piece I know she will be very excited! I already have some of her art in my own collection and I know you will be very impressed with the quality of her workmanship.

Be sure to watch for more Kenning Stone updates coming here soon!

Have a great weekend everyone!

BLOG SPAMMERS

Well what can I say?......

Today I had a post that was of absolutely no relevance to my blog.

So....I deleted it.

This person then retaliated and left me over 30 comments. All the same, all very quickly and all very annoying.

I then went to my moderate comments and made the necessary changes to protect my blog from the small mindedness of this person.

Yes, it took me a few minutes to delete them all. (I hope you are happy Mr Spammer)

How sad is that? How sad is this person?

I am sorry that my fellow artists, friends and family must now resort to waiting for my approval before their post will show publicly.

Well, hopefully Mr. Spammer will tire of this idea and eventually I can reopen my comment posts publicly again. (oh and I bet you thought I was going to say who you were.... I wouldn't give you any plug after this good or bad)

To My Friends, Family and fellow Artists:
Please continue to leave your comments on my blog, I will approve them as quickly as I can get to my computer.

Oh and Mr Spammer, it's best if you just go away.

I have a very mean delete finger!
